Inside Dua Lipa's failed past relationships as she gets engaged to Callum Turner

Dua Lipa is engaged after less than a year of dating actor boyfriend Callum Turner.

The New Rules singer, 29, was first linked to 34-year-old Harry Potter actor Callum in January this year. But now, as a new year is on the horizon, it appears the pair are prepared to spend the rest of their lives together after he got down on one knee to propose.

The chart-topping star seemingly casually announced her engagement while sharing a collection of images on Instagram - with fans failing to spot a huge ring on her wedding finger. Taking to Instagram before Christmas Day, the singer wrote: "home for the holidays sending you all so much love."

Images showed Dua flashing a beaming smile while she relaxed and posed in a number of positions. She shared a photo of herself sitting on a chair with her hands in her lap and she scrunched up her face with joy - and her ring-clad hands on full display.

Dua flashed a huge engagement ring on Instagram

More photos showed Dua embracing the festive spirit - with scenes of fine dining, gift wrapping, and spending time with friends filling her carousel of images. Days after the snaps were released, reports emerged that Dua and Callum - who starred in Harry Potter spin-off series Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - had become engaged.

A source told The Sun: "Dua and Callum are so in love and know this is forever. They are engaged and couldn’t be happier. Dua has had one of the best years of her career professionally and this is the cherry on the cake. Callum is such a solid support for Dua and they make a wonderful couple. Their family and friends are so happy. It’s been an amazing Christmas for them.” The Mirror has contacted representatives of the pair for comment.

In the past, Dua has enjoyed a string of romances with a host of famous faces, including models Anwar Hadid and Isaac Carew, but they all ended up fizzling out. Here, we take a look at her former flames as she finds her forever love in Callum.

Isaac Carew - 2015 and 2018

Dua dated British model-turned chef, Isaac Carew twice, first starting in 2015. They broke up, supposedly because of scheduling issues. But in May 2018, they were seen out again at Soho House together.

He was her date at several high-profile events afterward, including the 2019 Grammys and the Met Gala that year. However, scheduling issues reportedly led to their second breakup and they were officially over in 2019.

Anwar Hadid - 2021

Keeping with the model theme, the Can't Stop Thinking About You star dated supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid's little brother, Anwar, for two years until they parted ways in 2021.

In 2020, the couple quarantined together, and Dua told People it gave her a chance to get to know him better. She said: "It’s been really great—easy and fun and chill,” she said. "We’ve been making the most of this because we got all this extra time that we weren’t expecting to just hang out. It’s been an absolute blast, and we’re learning so much more about each other.”

However, sources said at the time of their break-up the couple had split several times before and decided to officially put a stop to their relationship. An insider told The Sun: "The couple floated the idea about putting the brakes on their romance last month as travelling so much and being apart is proving tough."

Following their break-up, Dua moved on to film maker, Romain Gavras. However, this didn't seem to sit well with Valentino model, Anwar, who posted a selfie on Instagram with the caption: "Trying not not find and kill him :)"

Jack Harlow - 2022

It was briefly rumoured that rapper Jack Harlow and Lipa were "hanging out” in December 2022, after they made an appearance at Variety’s Hitmakers brunch. It all started when the Lovin On Me star released a song called Dua Lipa, rapping that he wants more than "a feature.”

In May 2022, Jack said on The Breakfast Club that he got the singer's approval before releasing the song so she wouldn’t "be blindsided by that or feel like creeped out or anything.”

"If she had said, ‘Yo, I hate it. I don’t want it to come out,’ it wouldn’t have come out,” he said. "She was like, ‘Oh, I mean it’s not my song. I suppose it’s okay.’ She was just kinda thrown off, and she just kinda let it go.”

They kept communicating, and Jack allegedly was very intent on pursuing the London-born star. A source told Page Six that the rapper was "very interested in her and was going to strongly pursue [the romance]...he is going to do his best, as he has always been a fan of her.” But a few months later, it seemed as though things fizzled out.

Romain Gavras - 2023

Dua ended things with Romain last year

Dua enjoyed an eight-month romance with French filmmaker boyfriend, Romain, following a PDA-packed performance on the red carpet at Cannes last year.

The chart topper confirmed the relationship at the French festival in May 2023. They were first seen as a couple in March when they left Saint Laurent's Paris Fashion Week show in New York together, days after it was reported that they were dating.

However, Dua and Romain have gone their separate ways with sources claiming that the singer will be focusing on her music this year. A source told The Sun in December: "Dua and Romain have gone their separate ways after a summer of love."

In January 2024, Dua was seen with actor, Callum Turner at an after-party celebrating the premiere of Apple TV+ series Masters of Air. Footage shared by TMZ showed them appearing to get cosy at Avra in Beverly Hills.

"Callum is really the first serious relationship she’s had in the past few years,” a source told Us Weekly in March. "Dua and Callum spend almost all their time together and are nearly inseparable.”

The insider said they’ve travelled together and met each other’s families, adding that "the attraction is definitely there.” Since then, the couple has become much more public, attending events together, including the April 2024 TIME100 gala, where Dua was on of the honorees.

Since then, Dua has posted countless pictures with Callum as the couple spent time travelling the world with her family while she was on a global tour this year.
