韩明纪记者:Jennifer Lopez suffers fresh blow as new film bombs at UK box office

Jennifer Lopez, 55, has become well known for her acting skills alongside her singing, but they weren’t enough to save her most recent movie.

Unstoppable was released in UK cinemas on December 6, and tells the true story of Anthony Robles, who became a champion wrestler despite being born with only one leg. JLo played Anthony’s mum, Judy Robles, in the film, which was co-produced by her ex-husband Ben Affleck, 52.

Despite its all-star cast and compelling plot, Unstoppable wasn’t a hit at the box office. It was only the 55th most-watched film in UK cinemas on its release this month, and made just £3,112 during its opening weekend, according to The Sun, before dropping out of cinemas less than two weeks in. Unstoppable is now set to be available on Prime Video on January 16, 2025.

JLo’s box office failure comes after she surprised fans by cancelling a major tour. The star was all set to kick off her 'This Is Me... Live' tour across North America on June 26 this year, with stops in major cities including Miami, Las Vegas, New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia, plus three Canadian shows slated for August.

She reached out to her fans via her website, On the JLo, expressing her sorrow: "I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time.."

A representative for the singer confirmed to the Mirror at the time that Jennifer was "taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends."

Reflecting on her decision during an appearance on the Graham Norton show, Jennifer confessed that spending the summer with her kids was the "best thing" she had ever done, admitting: "It was not like me to do that, so I always want to apologise to the fans," reports the Mirror US.

Jennifer recounted an emotional encounter with a fan just before her talk show appearance, where she opened up about the impact of cancelling one of her This Is Me... Live shows. She shared: "[He] came up to me and said, 'I had tickets to come and see you,'" and continued by saying that when she attempted to express her regret, he reassured her with, "'Don't say sorry we love you."

Jennifer confessed that she burst into tears "right away." During her story, it was disclosed that the compassionate fan was in the studio audience, leading to a heartfelt hug and a thank you from the singer for his supportive words.

JLo’s decision came after she and Ben separated in April of this year, before filing for divorce in August. The couple had been married for just two years. 2024, Back in October, JLo opened up about the breakdown of her marriage to Ben, admitting that the period was "lonely, unfamiliar, and scary."
